RENEWAL OF VOWS

Mr. Reynante Alcantara, C.M.F., professed his renewal of vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11:00a.m at Dominguez Seminary. It was a wonderful remembrance of the Martyrs of Barbastro and renewal of vows.

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

In light of the recent events in Haiti, I would like us all to join together to support our Claretian brothers, families and friends who are suffering in the aftermath of the devastation the earthquake caused. Our Province will be sending financial assistance to our brothers in Haiti in response to the current situation. If you or anyone you may know, would like to make a donation to the Haiti earthquake relief fund, please send your donations to the Claretian Provincial Office at 10203 Lower Azusa Road, Temple City, CA 91780 ; we will take care of sending all the funds to the relief effort in Haiti. Please keep our Claretian brothers in Haiti, their family, friends, and the Haitian people in your prayers during these difficult times. XXIV GENERAL CHAPTER

On August 27,2009, the XXIV General Chapter of the Claretian Missionaries completed the election process of the new General Government which will serve the Congregation for the next six years. On August 24, 2009, the new Superior General, Father Josep M. Abella, C.M.F., was re-elected, and now, the General Government is complete with the newly elected consultors. 100 YEARS OF CLARETIAN SERVICE AT SAN GABRIEL MISSION

In the spirit of St. Anthony Mary Claret, the Claretian Missionary Priest and Brothers would like to thank all the people that made the Anniversary Mass in honor of St. Anthony Mary Claret on October 24, 2008 possible, as well as the Centennial Celebration on October 26, 2008 honoring the Claretian Priests and Brothers who served at San Gabriel Mission since 1908.

The Mass in honor of the 100 years of Claretian service at San Gabriel Mission was led by Father Rosendo Urrabazo, Vicar General of the Claretian Congregation. Following the Mass a procession from the Chapel of the Annunciation to the mission garden and cemetery with the Tongva people, San Gabriel Region Auxiliary Bishop Gabino Zavala, Father Urrabazo, Father Stephen Niskanen, pastor, Father Richard DeTore, Provincial Superior, other Claretian Priests who have served at San Gabriel Mission and parishioners joined Andrew Morales, Tribal Leader of the Gabrieleno Tongva San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians, in the singing of traditional songs and the blessing of the four directions. Anthony Morales continued with the blessing of the Kiiy (Tongva home) while Matthew Lovio played a holy tribal song on his flute. All the festivities concluded with a reception in the Mission gardens.
